Tooth coloured fillings have been used in dentistry for many
years, especially for front teeth. This is a much more attractive way to restore
a tooth, especially where the restoration is in the cosmetic zone (visible when
you talk or smile). These restorations also require less tooth preparation
(drilling) than for silver amalgam fillings.
